On the morning of the 14th, Yeungnam University (President CHOI Oe-chool) honored CHAE Sam-soo, CEO of Youngjin Trading Co., Ltd., as a ‘Chunma Honors’ member and presented him with a commemorative plaque. Established in 2020, Chunma Honors is a donor recognition program designed to acknowledge major contributors to the university’s development and to promote a culture of philanthropy.

CHAE, a 1982 alumnus of YU’s Food Processing Department, has been actively supporting the advancement of the food industry and nurturing future talent. His commitment to giving back to his alma mater began in 2008 with a scholarship donation to the Food Processing Department, and over the years, he has contributed a total of KRW 100 million in development funds. His donations have played a crucial role in enhancing YU’s educational environment and expanding student support initiatives. He remains dedicated to helping students focus on their studies by consistently funding scholarships.

During the award ceremony, CHAE expressed his gratitude, stating, “What I learned at my alma mater shaped who I am today. I simply wanted to give back, and I am honored to be recognized as a Chunma Honors member. I will continue to support YU and its students in the future.”

President CHOI Oe-chool responded, “CEO CHAE Sam-soo’s generosity and dedication serve as an inspiration to both Yeungnam University and its students. The university will continue to enhance its educational and research capabilities to nurture talent that contributes to Korea’s progress and global prosperity.”

YU selects donors who have made significant contributions to the university’s development and have strong social recognition and influence among individuals and organizations that have donated more than KRW 100 million in development funds, granting them Chunma Honors membership. To date, more than 100 individuals and organizations have been selected as members, and YU holds a plaque presentation ceremony to recognize their contributions. YU has also established and operates a donor recognition program, which includes awarding commemorative plaques to Chunma Honors members and inviting them as distinguished guests to major university events.
