Yeungnam University (YU), led by President CHOI Oe-chool, officially opened the “YU Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Study Abroad Center” on December 27 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The center aims to support Vietnamese students with Korean language education and study abroad opportunities, while enhancing YU's efforts to attract global talent. The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Director of YU International Education KIM Jae-chun, Director of International Affairs SON Sang-beom, Dr. Truong Nguyen Luan Vu, a department chair at Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education, and JANG Do-hwan, head of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Ho Chi Minh Office. YU alumni also joined to mark the occasion.

Vietnam ranks second only to China in the number of students studying in South Korea, with approximately 56,000 Vietnamese students enrolled in Korean universities as of 2024. Through this newly established center, YU plans to offer systematic and professional Korean language education and study abroad consulting services, creating a robust support system for aspiring international students.
At the opening ceremony, Director of YU International Education KIM Jae-chun stated, “We have established the YU Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Study Abroad Center in collaboration with our alumni in Ho Chi Minh City. The center will provide high-quality Korean language education and study abroad counseling for students in southern Vietnam, improving accessibility to YU and offering substantial support for prospective students.”
